OMG you awake? Sorry it's so late, but I just finished playing Starfall Odyssey and I literally can't sleep. My brain is still buzzing. Remember how your cousin described it? Like "explore space and battle spaceships" and "tough bosses"? Man, that's like describing a gourmet burger as "just ground meat on bread." Technically true, but totally missing the point!
Honestly, when I first started, I was like, okay, another space shooter. But then I hit the first 'level' – they call it the Whispering Void – and it was *not* just flying around. It’s like, the whole area changes. Asteroids drift and form new paths, and if you don't pay attention, your just stuck. I spent like twenty minutes trying to figure out how to get through this one part, then I realized the giant space jellyfish things actually *moved* the debris if you got close enough, revealing a secret passage! My jaw dropped. It felt so clever, not just brute force.
And the ships! They're not just different damage. I got this one called the 'Stardrifter' and it has this weird ability to like, phase through solid objects for a second. It's not for attacking, it's for *dodging* and getting behind enemies. I used it on the second boss, the 'Leviathan' – which isn't just a big bullet sponge. You have to bait its little drone swarms into its own energy field to overload it. I figured that out after dying like ten times, and when I did, I actually cheered out loud. The little *ding* sound when you nail a perfect phase-dodge? So satisfying.
I don't usually like space games that are just about shooting everything, but this isn't that. It's like a puzzle game sometimes, but with really cool explosions. I looked at the clock and it was almost 3 AM. I was supposed to just play for an hour! I even recommended it to my cousin Sarah already. You really gotta try it. It's so much more than what that description said. It makes you feel like your really in space, figuring things out.
